MICROSOFT VICE PRESIDENT ROBERT MCDOWELL TO SPEAK TO LOCAL AUSTIN TECHNOLOGY EXECUTIVES
"This says quite a bit about the importance Microsoft places on the members of the Austin technology community," states Austin AITP President, Russ Finney. "Bob usually only keynotes to audiences exceeding two thousand people, so it is a real honor to have him make a special trip to address our local Austin AITP meeting."
JUNE 15, 1998 (AUSTIN, TEXAS) -- As it continues to provide a forum for important, high profile information technology speakers, the Austin chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) will host its most significant technology event of the summer. Robert McDowell will pay a special visit to the city to address a local AITP meeting of the city's top IT executives, service providers, and academics.
"The timing for Bob's visit couldn't be more perfect," said AITP President Russ Finney. "Microsoft will have just released Windows 98 to the general public. Many companies are currently weighing their upgrade decisions. In addition, Microsoft is making a huge marketing push into the larger enterprise. Bob is clearly one of Microsoft's visionaries for the creation of these enterprise strength computing products."
McDowell's July 14th presentation will be "Microsoft and the Changing Enterprise", a subject he knows well as Microsoft's Vice President of Enterprise Business Relationships. He is responsible for maintaining the executive business relationships with many of Microsoft's strategic large account customers. In that regard, he is a leading spokesperson articulating Microsoft strategy for serving enterprise customers as well as ensuring feedback from those customers results in continually improving products and service from Microsoft.
The meeting comes at a great time for the Austin AITP organization. The local chapter of AITP is experiencing one of its most active years ever. "We have hosted leading executive level speakers from the Gartner Group, IBM, and IntelliSolve over the last several months," Finney stated. "We have also sponsored a CIO Roundtable, as well as an IT Staffing and Skills panel discussion, both of which included representatives from some of area's leading companies and universities."
Later this year, Austin AITP will host its first "Austin Internet Roundtable" which will feature a discussion panel with some of the leading Internet personalities in the city. "We are all working very hard to build Austin AITP into the leading information technology voice in the city," Finney remarked, "Bob's presentation will help us tremendously in our campaign to build awareness of our organization's activities."
